In my yard, high up in a pine tree. Loud rattling call, like most woodpeckers but slower and much louder. Beautiful bird, easily distinguished from any other woodpecker. | ||
@ Eagle Lake park, a new lifer! They are very loud and seem to have a higher pitched call than other woodpeckers. It seemed very timid and would fly away if anyone was within 30 feet of his tree. |
